Celebrating the New Year in Cabo San Lucas!

As a seasoned traveler, I’ve had my fair share of incredible trips, but my New Year’s 2025 celebration in Cabo San Lucas was an unforgettable experience that definitely deserves a special mention. This was my first time staying at the Riu Santa Fe, though it marked my fifth visit to Mexico, a country that never fails to deliver both adventure and relaxation. From meeting up with my travel BFF to indulging in authentic local experiences, this trip was filled with moments that made my heart and soul dance.

The Riu Santa Fe Experience

Let’s start with the resort itself. The Riu Santa Fe is a beautiful property that sits right on the beach, offering breathtaking views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean. As soon as I arrived, I was immediately taken aback by the sweeping panoramas and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The resort is a sprawling complex with lots of amenities, perfect for those who love the all-inclusive vibe, where you can kick back without a care in the world.
However, while the scenery was absolutely stunning, the resort’s food left a bit to be desired. I’m not one to be too picky when it comes to food, but I have to be honest: the dining options at the Riu Santa Fe were a bit lackluster. The food wasn’t always hot, and sometimes it didn’t even look as appetizing as I’d hoped. I found myself wishing for more of that fresh, bold, and flavorful Mexican cuisine that I know and love. But hey, when you’re at a resort, not everything is about the food, right?

The Real Fun Begins in Cabo......

Even though the food was nothing to write home about, the views—oh, the views—were absolutely spectacular. The beach and the ocean were a constant reminder of why Cabo is so beloved by travelers. Every morning, I’d wake up to the sound of waves crashing and the sight of the vast ocean stretching into the horizon. This alone made the trip worth it.
But the best part? Meeting up with my California homegirl, Vera, a fellow travel advisor who, like me, is all about exploring new destinations. We’ve made it a point to meet up in a different country as many times as possible, and what better way to kick off 2025 than in the vibrant streets of Cabo? We had an absolute blast together, roaming the local markets, soaking in the energy of the city, and of course, indulging in some amazing authentic tacos. I’m talking about tacos so good they make you rethink everything you’ve ever known about tacos.
We also squeezed in a tequila tasting—because, let’s face it, that’s pretty much a must-do when in Mexico! From the smooth to the spicy, it was a delicious, eye-opening experience. And of course, we spent a couple of days lounging on the beach, margarita in hand, watching the sunset and just soaking up the good vibes.

Testing the Waters (Literally)

As a travel advisor, it’s my professional duty (and personal pleasure) to test out all aspects of a destination, especially when it comes to food, wine, spirits, and nightlife. And Cabo didn’t disappoint in that department! Whether it was sipping on a local cocktail by the pool or enjoying an oceanfront dinner with a glass of wine, every moment felt like a celebration. We even ventured out into the lively nightlife scene to ring in the new year with some Salsa dancing. There’s nothing like shaking off the old year with a little Latin rhythm to welcome the new one in style!

Cabo Owes Me Nothing!

While I’ll probably not be recommending the Riu Santa Fe for its food or all-inclusive offerings, I’ll always cherish the memories of this trip. Cabo really owes me nothing! From mingling with the locals to practicing my broken California Spanish (which, let’s be honest, probably made the locals chuckle a bit), this trip was all about embracing the culture, the energy, and the joy of being in a place that feels both foreign and familiar at the same time. It was an experience that reminded me why I love traveling—because it's not just about the resorts or the food; it’s about the people you meet, the connections you make, and the adventures that unfold along the way.
Here’s to an amazing 2025 and many more travel adventures to come!

    Welcome to Keisha's Corner

Here is where we meet to discuss the latest travel news, trends and just to check in with each other. I love the Caribbean culture and enjoy customizing vacation experiences for my clients (Travel Buddies). Don't get it twisted though, I am a California girl (San Francisco Bay Area) to the heart and I represent home base frequently.
West Coast is the best coast, if you ask me. And that's only if you're asking.

So, while I love all things Caribbean, every now and then I'll share info about California destinations and must see events. If you would like to be a part of the village, join us! This is a village of love.
