Photo Credit: GETTY IMAGES Most of us that love and value traveling, have recently felt the pains of withdrawal. Not being able to pack a bag and head out for the weekend or pack half your closet and jet-set to somewhere sunny and warm in the Caribbean, has been a real drag. During these trying times, many travelers have discovered a new found appreciation for freedom and being able to fly anywhere in the world whenever the heart desires. Though most international travel has been banned or has had its doors open to the public and closed right back again, the announcement of a vaccine has hit the news & things are looking up! In the mean time, just because that special Caribbean getaway may seem out of reach at the moment, there are still, amazing stateside destinations waiting to be explored, some just around the corner from you! Let's check out K. Crumb Travel's top 3 domestic destinations after the break.... Photo credit: FrenchQuarter.com First up, New Orleans baby! You can see the vibe of New Orleans in the picture above. If you've never been to a second line celebration in NOLA, you ain't living right! There's dancing in the streets, lawful drinking while walking, the smells of some of the best Po' boy sandwiches, crawfish and gumbo wafting throughout. It's truly a win/win situation. You want to party? See some historical sites or just mix it up with the locals and possibly make a new friend? Well, New Orleans has all of that and then some. Now I could be bias because I have family in New Orleans and have been there multiple times, but I can speak from experience when I say the vibe of this southern city is unmatched. The bounce music, the southern hospitality and the alluring images of Black people who have persevered through hurricanes and tragedy, are awe inspiring. You can't help but feel your ancestors nudging you to try something new when you come to New Orleans. I can't wait to get back there soon, because when I leave, New Orleans will owe me nothing! ![]() Picture credit: Wikipedia Denver, Colorado Picture credit: Señor Bear Number 2 on my list is Denver, Colorado, home of some of the best artsy, fartsy museums and eclectic style you will ever see. Whenever I travel to a major city away from my current home state of Maryland, I like to venture out to the hot-spots and see how the natives really live. If you are anything like me, when I visit a new destination, I want to absorb the atmosphere, take pictures of the famous landmarks or statues, but more importantly, I have to find the best cocktails that the city has to offer. So as a special treat to my travel buddies, I'll tell you about a couple of must try places that I like. One of them being, Señor Bear, home to the best latin-style, small plates Denver has to offer. The food is fresh and colorful, the drinks are potent but not overly and the crowd is friendly enough. Might I suggest you try their take on the White Russian, and order a "Keep tha Change, Ya Filthy Animal". Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Be sure to tell them K. Crumb Travel, LLC sent you. The second sweet spot Room For Milly, is a 1920's inspired cocktail bar that is actually quite charming. They offer velvet seating in tucked away corners for friend groups and cocktails sessions. Their food was tasty as well, but honestly, I can only speak to the drinks as that is what was most consumed. Trust me, it's a place you have gotta try. Side Note: I believe that Room For Milly is temporarily closed due to the Pandemic. Let's pray they are able to re-open. It's about the closet you can get to the Caribbean Islands, while still being in the continental United States. If you are lucky enough to visit the Middle Keys, be sure to check out the vacation rental resort, Marlin Bar Resort & Arena. Just a short walk to one of the island's fishery spots, offering delicious stone crabs. Like most parts of Florida, there's fishing, paddle boarding and more common water sport activities. The abundance of local reef communities, underwater sea life and simply put, water creatures you've never seen before, are here for exploration. Get in to it; you may actually find a new vacation favorite. For more great state side destinations, please visit www.kcrumbtravel.com. Be sure to like and share this post, we are a community.
