If you have had the pleasure of island hopping throughout the Caribbean, you're probably familiar with the many islands and territories there are to choose from. The choices of places to visit are endless, and some islands offer different cultures and vibes. The following information is geared toward the new traveler and/or the seasoned traveler that may be looking for new destination ideas. If you're deciding which island is best for a solo vacation, family vacation or maybe something romantic, meet me at the corner for a vibe check, to help narrow down your options....... ![]() Whether you are planning a family or a romantic getaway, you should always consider the personality and expectations of those traveling. The great thing about the Caribbean is, there is a special place that is perfect for whatever experience you desire. Typically, before I customize the perfect vacation experience for my clients, I do a brief interview or vibe check ,as I prefer to call it. This allows me to get to know the people involved and get a sense of how they want to feel, while on vacation. Keep in mind that vacations are personal and unique to that individual. While some clients have no idea what destination may best suit them, once we identify their mood and expectations, it makes it easier for me to make recommendations. For the Lover in you: For those that are seeking romance, beautiful views and a location that offers a combination of indoor and outdoor luxury, I recommend Sugar Beach, a Viceroy resort located in the mountains of St. Lucia. This resort is perfect for couples that enjoy the natural amenities provided by the rugged Piton mountains in the near distance and the Caribbean Sea right at your feet. Sugar Beach offers a full service spa, various restaurants, hiking, snorkeling, a private butler and suites. For those that truly are one with nature, but appreciate modern luxury as well, this is the place for you. Another option for a similar experience, would be the Ladera Resort. Check it out! Something for the Entire family Maybe romance is not at the forefront of your vacation request, maybe you're traveling with the kids, the grandparents or even the neighbors, no worries, there's something for you too! When vacationing with people of various generations, you want to ensure that there is entertainment and activities for everyone. For an amazing family vacation, I recommend Aruba. Aruba belongs to the lesser Antilles in the southern Caribbean and is great for families that enjoy beautiful beach life, water sports and an occasional pink flamingo sighting at the famous Flamingo Beach. Aruba is NOT the go-to spot for loud music, spring breakers and those that love a good "turn-up". It's more of a relaxing, wear the kiddos out from all-day water play, beautiful pictures of pristine blue water and a little night time entertainment for mom and dad. One of my favorite resorts in Aruba is Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort. The Divi Aruba resorts are located in the high-rise district, on the famed Palm Beach. They offer amazing beach views, great dining selections, water activities, stunning suites and plenty of shopping. ![]() The Solo Traveler Last but certainly not least, the solo traveler. Of course there are certain things to consider when traveling alone like safety, cost and having your passport on hand, when island/fairy hopping. Other than that, traveling alone doesn't mean limited experiences, it's actually an eye opening, educational experience that builds character. If you have any reservations about traveling alone or your friends have bailed out on you repeatedly, GO ANYWAY! #WhyWait #JustGo After feedback from my clients that have traveled alone, it's been noted that the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe are 2 destinations that are a must see. I don't have a specific recommendation for resorts for these two locations, as they vary in activity, culture and cost, but for more details on these destinations, visit our friend Jessie on a Journey. She offers great insight and tips on solo travel. Share the knowledge
