It's a new year and we have places to go! Hey y'all, hey! I know it's been a minute since we've met at the corner to chop up travel business, but guess who's back?! It's Keisha, your favorite Travel Agent and Experience Connoisseur, here with a few pro-tips on how to move, when traveling solo...... I'm sure most of you have planned a trip before and in the beginning everybody is down to ride! You'll hear them say, "I'm going!", "Count me in!" and more often than not, you'll get the "Who all going?" Even after you answer all these questions and then some, you may still end up being the only one at the airport, bags in hand. No worries, go ANYWAY! Traveling solo has been noted by travel professionals as one of the best self care, self exploration methods out there. #WhyWait #JustGo Things to consider: Who's going to take my pictures? The great thing about traveling abroad is, most people are either on vacation as well, or they're used to the tourism and asking a stranger to take your picture is not seen as a big deal. I've had a few strangers (some are now my travel buddies) help me figure out my best angles and captured the perfect lighting. But for those of you who may be too shy to ask, or like to capture your own angles and lighting, I would recommend a selfie stick. I am sure there's a fancier word for them now, but you know what I mean. There are plenty cost effective ones on the market, but click for my recommendation HOTEL CARDS Hotel cards are a must when traveling to places where you don't speak the language. It's all fun and games until you can't tell your driver what hotel you're headed to. With a hotel card you can simply flash the card to the driver and they typically know where it is or know how to look it up and get you there. There's nothing scarier than being tipsy, feet hurting and you can't describe your final destination. Pick up multiple cards if possible. Trust me, you'll thank me later! Social Media Solo Traveler Groups
Nothing beats having an ally in the clutch, especially when you're alone. Before you head out to discover a new country or state, use your resources. There are plenty of travel groups on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Chat with other solo travelers that may be headed to your destination around the time you'll be there. Having that connection can lessen any anxiety you may have, and you just might make a new friend. And if your new friend can't be there at the same time, maybe they just left, at least they can give you suggestions on great places to eat, visit and where NOT to go. Traveling solo doesn't mean you're alone. It just means your friends missed out on an amazing opportunity to create a memory, with you in it. Welcome to Keisha's CornerHere is where we meet to discuss the latest travel news, trends and just to check in with each other. I love the Caribbean culture and enjoy customizing vacation experiences for my clients (village). Don't get it twisted though, I am a California girl (San Francisco Bay Area) to the heart and I represent home base frequently. Archives
